September 14, 2001 - A National Day of Prayer and Remembrance

This week was trying, as it was on most of our nation and much of the world. How does one attempt to be witty and glib when there are so many suffering? While Iowa City, Iowa is far removed from the carnage that the terrorists created, it has not been immune from the feelings of helplessness and disbelief that their actions spawned. To all who are struggling with this event please remain hopeful. Pray for our leaders to keep clear heads in these difficult times and hope that our response will be just but not extreme. Finally, one piece of news to lighten the mood. My boss, Tracy Scott, was walking around all day with his zipper down. He seemed to appreciate it when I told him that "the cows were getting out."
